Granville Downs Obituary

Granville O. Downs, 80, of East Windsor and formerly South Windsor, beloved husband of Doris (Cloutier) Downs, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Kettle Brook Care Center in East Windsor.

Granville was born April 6, 1933, in Readfield, Maine, to the late Granville W. and Mary (Coleman) Downs. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, Doris, Granville is survived by his children, Debra Downs of East Hartford, Sandra Shumsky, and her husband, Robert, of Enfield, Gary Downs of Glastonbury, William Downs, and his wife, Laura, of South Windsor, Lori Walker, and her husband, Thomas, of Preston, Timothy Downs, and his wife, Alexandria, of South Windsor; his brother, Robert Downs, and his wife, Barbara; his sisters, Lorraine True, Patricia Barter, as well as 10 grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by five sisters in Maine.

Services will be private at the family's request. Donations in Granville's memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Connecticut, 45 Ash St., East Hartford CT 06108-3272. For online condolences please visit
