Hazel Mary Sitek, 76, of Tolland, passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2025. Born on April 29, 1949, in Listuguj, NB, Canada, she was one of 14 children born to Joseph Anthony, Sr and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Dedam.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Edwin J. Sitek; children, Toni (Peter) Martucci and Dale Dedame; grandchildren, Lauren and Gabrielle Martucci, Nicholas and Kaitlyn Dedame and great-grandson Elliott Anthony Raimondi; brothers, Anthony "Tony" Dedam Jr. and Simon (Marlene) Dedam. Sisters-in-law Jane Lariviere and Phillis Cwikla, and brother-in-law Francis (Beverly) Sitek. As well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She spent many years working at JCPenney, where she especially treasured the time spent with Rose Saladino. Together they shared a sister-like closeness that turned daily work into lasting memories.
You could always find Eddie and Hazel at numerous food establishments throughout Vernon creating lasting friendships along the way. These cherished friendships included second son Matt, Debby, Cathy, Brenda, Abby, Devon, Tia, Jenny, Hammer, Iris, Al, Jim, Juan, Ricky, Tom, Chris, Doug, Gabriel, Angie, Ian, Salvatore, Joel, Mike and all their wonderful neighbors.
Hazel's life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceeds the quantity of time that she stayed here.
To respect Hazel's final wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockville privately at a later date.
