Hildegard Kozaryn Obituary

Hildegard (Berger) Kozaryn, 85, of Windsor, affectionately known as "Oma," beloved wife of the late Eugene "Tommy" Kozaryn, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

Born in Augsburg, Germany, daughter of the late Anton and Maria (Kucher) Berger, she was extremely proud of her German heritage. She met her husband, Tommy, while he served in Germany in the U.S. Army during World War II, and came to the United States Dec. 24, 1948. They settled in Bloomfield and 12 years later moved to Windsor, where she lived for 55 years and raised her family and was a devoted communicant of St. Gertrude Church.

Hilda was a hard-working professional beginning her career at Veeder Root, then advancing her way up to vice president at Amplex Corp, and starting her own company, Mant USA Inc., in Windsor, where she continued to work until her death. Hilda was extremely proud of her three daughters and instilled in them the qualities that made them the successful women they became. She was an over-50-year member of both the Hartford Leiderkranz and the Hartford Saengerbund German clubs. Hilda loved to dance, travel, and lavish her love and affection on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She leaves two daughters Rosemarie Miskavitch (William) and Heidi Kraushaar (Gary), all of Windsor; her son-in-law, Richard Fox, of Ogdensburg, New York, husband of her late daughter Sandra Fox, who died earlier this year; a sister, Louise Sibler in Germany; brother-in-law Edward Davis, of Enfield; grandchildren Tom (Aubrey), Tim (Marie) and Todd Blatchley, David and Amy Miskavitch (Greg Weeks), Ian Kozaryn Kraushaar, Michael, Sandra, and Andreas Ulbrich, Allie, Ashley, and Alisa Kraushaar; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves a good friend, Leopold Sans, of Vernon; dear friends Werner Ulbrich and Patsy Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Tommy, and daughter, Sandra, she was predeceased by a sister, Maria A. Davis.

Her family will receive friends Friday, July 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. directly at St. Gertrude Church, 550 Matianuck Ave., Windsor. Burial will follow in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Mary's Place, A Center for Grieving Children & Families, 6 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, CT 06095.

Growing up, we didn't know how good we had it--that Mom and Dad had such true friend as Gladys & Ralph McLaughlin and Tommy & Hilda Kozaryn.

Hilda & Tom complemented each other in so many ways -- to form a great team and make a great family

I fanyone needs a model of our to enjoy life and persevere happily through life, and instill a rock-solid morality in others, all they have to do is study the life of Hilda Kozaryn.

Our thought and prayer sare with you always.

Hilda was a fiercely independent woman who loved dancing and, most of all, her family and dear friend Leo. Many a cup of coffee was shared with her and she will always be remembered as dear "Oma" to her family and friends.
