Jacqueline Hastings Obituary

Jacqueline L. Hastings, 77, of the Broad Brook section of East Windsor, wife of the late Albert E. Hastings, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at Hartford Hospital.

Jackie was born in Hartford and lived in East Windsor for most of her life. She spent many years of her life employed in tobacco farming, both shade and broadleaf, performing all aspects of growing and curing. She was an active member of the Democratic Party working at the polls and registering voters. Jackie was a member of the East Windsor Senior Citizens and donated her time to run the bingo at Park Hill with her friend, Nancy.

Jackie is survived by two sons, George Hastings of West Hartford, and Brian Hastings and his wife, Patricia, of Broad Brook; two daughters, Sheila Chicoine and William Robbins of Chicopee, Mass., and Jodi Kessler and her husband, Steve, of Broad Brook; two sisters, Sharon Estey of Lakeland, Fla., and Brenda Green and her husband, Herbert, of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Gordon Watson of Windsor Locks; seven grandchildren, Brian and Todd Chicoine, Matthew and Jaime Kessler and Andrew, Harrison, and Colin Hastings; a special friend, Nancy Spencer; and many nieces and nephews. Jackie was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce Donihee and June Hastings, and a brother, Henry White.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church, 278 North Road, East Windsor. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held at the Bethany Baptist Church from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Assoc., 2550 U.S. Highway Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.

The Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, has care of arrangements.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.I don't get the paper and nobody told me. I just went down to vote and I ask where your mom was and Nancy told me. My moms name was Lucille Worcester she enjoyed being your moms neighbor at park hill for a few years. She was real good to my mom. I send my deepest sympathy.
