Jennifer Guittare Obituary

Jennifer (Stevenson) Guittare, 43, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, after a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 10, 1963, in Hartford, the daughter of Maryalis Stevenson of Tolland and the late Russell E. Stevenson Jr. Jennifer devoted her life to caring for others through her training as a Registered Nurse. She loved and cared for many animals. Jennifer was very athletic, enjoyed running and was an avid equestrian.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by four children, Ashley, Zachary, and twins Molly and Erin Guittare, all of Lebanon; her fiancé, Ted Chalifoux, of Lebanon; a brother Robert Stevenson and his wife, Michele, of Manchester; three nieces, MacKenzie Stevenson, Courtney Bergin and Felicia Fountain; a nephew, Jameson Fountain; her large loving extended family; and her former husband, Gary Guittare, of Avon.

Jennifer's family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), Willimantic on Wednesday between 5 and 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by cremation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to a fund used toward the education of her children. Checks may be made payable to Guittare Children's Fund c/o New Alliance Bank, 6 Storrs Rd., Willimantic, CT, 06226.

I, too, had the pleasure of working with Jen at DaVita, we started at the same time, and I had the pleasure to go to Tennessee with her for training. We had a wonderful time, and shared many laughs on our trip, and that is how I will always remember her. What a wonderful person. My deepest sympathy to her friends and family.

I am a patient at DaVita New London. It was my pleasure to have Jennifer as my nurse. When she was not busy, as is the usual, she would take a little time and tell me about her adventures with the animals. We, my wife and I, loved her colorful personality and always enjoyed a word about her family and children. She is gone from our lives so quickly. Rest in peace, Jennifer. Dear Mrs Stevenson, Ashley, Zachary,Erin, and Molly and Family- I am truely sorry for our loss of Jen and offer my sincere condolences. Her presence will be greatly missed and I cannot express how much she will be missed by her friends and family. My husband and I just learned of her passing when visiting the Uconn Health Center where she was so ill. Our friends in Lebannon and especially those close to her like Ted will be heartbroken as we learn of her passing. What a tremendous trajety it is for all of those who cared for her and that her life was just beginning. May god bless her in heaven. Jen was a great gal and I have fond memories of growing up with her in the same neighborhood, going to the same High School, attending the same College when she studied Animal Science and then went on to become a nurse. I lost touch with Jen for several years and as miracles do not cease she became a friend once again later in life. I began to bump into Jen most recently and we went shopping together, pilates class among other things and just shared some memories of past and present. And we shared a few memories of growing up on the same street in Tolland Ct. She shared one of her litters of kittens with me, an orange tiger. She also showed my family the beautiful home she made for herself and her children in Lebannon ,a small farm with a garden, goats and cats and dogs, bunnies and chickens and most recently a new horse. She had made the dream of her childhood a reality for herself and her family in spite of the hardships that she had squarely faced and endured. We are all very proud of Jen and are grieving her loss. It was so sudden that she was taken away.All her friends will be saddened by her loss from the community. We add a special prayer for her children and all that she hoped and loved and prayed for them.

To the Family and Friends of Jennifer Guittare. I will forever remember her with great fondness and admiration. I started working with her at SF Hospital first as a CNA and then as a fellow RN. I had the pleasure of working with Jen for a year and a half at Davita Healthcare of New London. She was a very professional, caring, and dedicated nurse. Her wonderful sense of humor and contagious smile and laughter will be remembered by patients and staff alike.
Jen gave me great advice and lots of hugs while I was going through my divorce. Her caring and love of life helped so many people around her.
Jen loved her children. They were her world, everything to her. She spoke of them constantly.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Jen. I worked with Jen at St Francis for many years; she was a phenomenal nurse who provided loving tender care to all the patients she served. She touched many a lives in her nursing career and her love of life and laughter will never be forgotten by those of us who worked along side her. She was a great mother to her four children and worked tirelessly caring for all her animals on her farm in Lebanon. Her frisky spirit will be sorely missed. May she rest in peace.
