Jennifer Mocksfield Obituary

Jennifer Lynne (White) Mocksfield, more fondly known as Jen, of Colchester, passed away on April 29, 2023, at Hartford Hospital, after a valiant struggle with autoimmune illness. She was 53 years old.

Jen was born in Manchester on Dec. 31, 1969. On Oct. 4, 1997, she married the love of her life, Alan Charles Mocksfield. The couple settled in Colchester where they made their home and raised their two sons. Jen was actively involved with her sons as they grew. She was president for the school PTO and she was an organizer and fundraiser for their Lacrosse team. Jen was their biggest fan and they were her greatest joy. She retired due to her progressing illness after having worked as an accountant at RHAM Public School in Hebron. She truly enjoyed her vocation, and she worked tirelessly organizing and fundraising for the students there as well. In her free time, Jen loved doing SUDOKU puzzles or spending time on Cape Cod or near the ocean. Her loss will be mourned by many, especially by the family she was ever devoted to.

She leaves her husband of 25 years, Alan; her sons, Noah Mocksfield of Colchester, Owen Mocksfield of Moneta, Virginia; her mother and "dad," Gail (Brooks) and Philip Garceau of Vernon; a brother, Jeffrey (Jill) White of Tucson, Arizona; stepsister, Deborah Rose of Guilford; stepbrother, Dennis (Julie) Garceau of Vernon; maternal grandparents, George and Gwen Brooks of Manchester; aunt, Bonnie Brooks of Glastonbury; paternal grandmother, Beatrice White of Manchester; uncle, David (Susan) White of Coventry; sister and brother-in-law, Gail (Robert) Royer of Hebron; and a host of extended family members and friends.

A celebration of Jen's life will take place on Friday May 5, beginning at 4 p.m., at St. Joseph's Polish Society, South Main St., Colchester. The celebration will be a casual event, if you would like please bring a memory of Jen to share.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Autoimmune Association

Alan, Noah and Owen,

Words cannot adequately express how saddened and heartbroken we are for you and all at Jen's passing. She was such an amazing woman; devoted wife, mother, and friend. I will miss seeing her smiling face and her friendly personality whenever I had the pleasure of seeing her. I was always amazed at how much she was able to do and how involved she was at serving on the PTO, on the LAX board and in the community. She will be greatly missed by all of us who were lucky enough to have known her. We will continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

I can hear her sweet voice (and perhaps not so sweet when she was staunchly defending her family, friends or her principles. I can hear her infectious laugh. She was my first CT friend that welcomed me with such open arms, didn't let me just sit in the background in PTO, or would tell me why certain lax calls were made. There are no words to express how deeply she will be missed. My loving prayers and deep sorrow goes out to you Alan, Noah, and Owen and to her parents. She loved you all so much.

I love you, Jen. Eternal peace to you, my friend.
