It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of the best mother and grandmother ever, Joan (Fecko) Froehlich, 84, of Ellington, beloved wife of the late Richard A. Froehlich. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her cherished family on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Joan was born on August 2, 1941, in New Boston, PA, the youngest of six children of the late John and Della (Wasilefsky) Fecko. Joan was a 1959 graduate of Rockville High School. Along with raising her family, she had been employed with Country Pure Foods for many years and was a hard-working individual since childhood. She attended St. Bernard Church in Rockville.
Joan enjoyed dancing with her husband, Richard, at the Crystal Lake Ballroom in the 1950s, doing puzzles, and rooting for the New York Yankees and the UConn Women's Basketball teams. She liked to go to the casinos, play bingo, run errands, eat out with family and friends and watch her many favorite television shows. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she especially loved the holidays.
Joan was very generous, nurturing, friendly, kind, cheerful, compassionate, and loving. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She gave all the love she had and deserved all the love in the world. Joan leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters with whom she made her home, Joan Kelly and Dawn Froehlich, her two special and much-loved grandchildren Caitlin Kelly and Nathaniel Froehlich, her sister, Marion Reutter and numerous nieces, nephews, their families, and many good friends and neighbors. In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was predeceased by her siblings Eleanor Richardson, Bernice Warner, Billy Fecko and John Fecko. Joan's family invites all who knew her to a graveside service, which will be held on November 1 at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard Cemetery, 12 Tolland Ave., Rockville, CT 06066, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life gathering.
