John Cannata Obituary

John C. Cannata, 77, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Antoinette (Aparo) Cannata, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Marlborough Health Care Center after a short illness.

Born June 24, 1931, in New Britain, son of the late Dominic and Zinna (Zappula) Cannata, he had lived in Glastonbury for 40 years. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he had worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 32 years. John had served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Connecticut Fly Fisherman's Association, the Farmington River Anglers, and the Housatonic River Association. John was an avid fly fisherman, he tied his own flies and had taught fly fishing.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, John D. Cannata of Marlborough; a nephew, Charles Lana of Berlin; brother-in-law, Robert Aparo and his wife, Beverly, of Glastonbury, brother-in-law, Ronald Aparo and his wife, Patricia, of Denton, Texas; niece, Karen Aparo and nephew, Roger Aparo, both of Florida.

Funeral service will be Friday, May 1, at 9:15 a.m. from the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Dunstan Church, Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, April 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Glastonbury Volunteer Ambulance, P.O. Box 453, Glastonbury, CT 06033, or to the Glastonbury VNA, 969 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, CT 06033.

Dear Toni,

It is with saddness for me to convey to you my condolences ackowledging the unfortuntate passing of your husband.

I worked @ CBT Data Services during my college years in the 70's. I always enjoyed seeing you & Marian Rager while walking through the office and quietly saying hello as not to interfere with your stroke allocations. You were always so pleasant.

I thoroughly understand the difficulty that your loss presents to you & your family.
