John DiBattista Obituary

John DiBattista, 73, of Enfield and Eastford, beloved husband of 47 years to Patricia (Bazinet) DiBattista, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Baystate Medical Center, from cardiac arrest.

John was born in Hartford to John J. and Mary Alice (Girouard) DiBattista. He graduated from Windsor Locks High School and Asnuntuck Community College. John was employed as a gauge inspector at Pratt & Whitney for 28 years, retiring in 2000. He coached girls travel youth soccer for six years, and his team was the first team from Enfield to win a state championship in travel youth soccer. John was also a member of the Democratic Town Committee for many years. He was an avid fan of UConn basketball and was a season ticket holder of the women's team. John loved fishing, playing golf, his pontoon boat at the lake, going out with his brother Joe, and especially his four grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Pat, John is survived by his son, Gary, and his wife, Jessica; and two daughters, Colette Polmatier, and Lisa Duffy and her husband, Ryan; his four grandchildren, Mia, Lillia, Charlie, and Morgan; and his two brothers, Frederick and his wife, Beryl, and Joseph and his wife, Joy. He also is survived by his many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

John's family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Private burial at the convenience of the family will be in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.

John's family has suggested expressions of sympathy may be in the form of memorial donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082, or the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., New York, NY 10065.
