John A. Ferruolo, 91, passed away peacefully in his home in South Windsor, surrounded by family on Saturday, September 6, 2025. John's larger-than-life spirit, vision, drive, and devotion to family leaves a lasting mark on all who knew him.
In 1965 John built the first self-service car wash in New England, setting in motion a legacy that continued for fifty-five years. Alongside his sons, Gregory and Paul, Mr. Sparkle Car Washes, Inc. grew to fourteen locations in two states.
John was married to Thomasene (Hayes), loving wife and mother of their three sons, for fifty years until her passing.
Later, John lived life to the fullest with his current spouse, Beverly Hammand McRory. Initially drawn together by their mutual passion for the beach, golf, and horses, it was spending time with their many friends and relatives that truly bonded them.
He was predeceased by his son John "Jay" Ferruolo, Jr. and is survived by his sons Gregory (Susan) Ferruolo and Paul (Jeanne) Ferruolo, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
John's family will receive friends from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor. Guests are asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor.
