Jon Andresen Obituary

Jon Wilbur Andresen, 73, of Windsor, beloved husband for 52 years of the late Patricia Claire (Nadeau) Andresen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at his home.

Born in Hartford on Feb. 22, 1938, son of the late Walter Julius and Marie Kristine (Hansen) Andresen, Jon attended Windsor public schools and was a lifelong resident of Windsor. Jon owned and operated Keney Services in Windsor and Hartford for over 41 years, starting with an Esso Gas Station and then an auto body shop in Hartford. Dedicated to the town of Windsor and its residents, Jon was very civic minded and served as a volunteer firefighter for over 55 years, including four years as chief of the Wilson Fire Department. Jon also became involved in the state of Connecticut Fire Chiefs Association and had served as president of the association. He also was appointed by the governor of Connecticut to serve on a fire prevention task force and to help in the design of the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks. A member of Washington Lodge No. 70, A.F.&A.M. in Windsor, Jon later became a member of Sphinx Temple Shrine, AAONMS in Newington and rode in parades and other functions with the Shriners Motor Patrol. Jon was also a member of the Windsor Lodge of Elks, No. 2060, BPOE in Windsor.

He leaves a son, Mark Andresen, and his wife, Betty, of East Granby; a daughter, Dawn Andresen, and her husband, Daniel L. McKeever Jr., of Manchester; two sisters, Margaret Risley, and her husband, Clifford, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Shirley Razus of Ramsey, N.J.; five grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Jeffrey, Erika, and Allison; three great-grandchildren, Allissa, Makayla, and Gavin. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and James Andresen.

A funeral service conducted by the Windsor Lodge of Elks, No. 2060, BPOE, Washington Lodge No. 70, A.F.&A.M., and the Windsor Fire Department, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m., at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., in the Poquonock section of Windsor. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery, Windsor.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.

October 29, 2011

Mark, Betty, Dawn, Dan & Family,
I was really saddened by the news of your father's passing. I am sorry I wasn't able to be with you today, but you are all in my thoughts & prayers. Missy & I had a great laugh thinking that now your Mom & Dad are having cocktails with my Dad.You know how much you all mean to us. We love you and will sorely miss your Dad. He was a wonderful person, and one of my favorites. We always have our memories to bring a smile, your parents both inspired & encouraged us to have great times together. I don't know of a married couple I admired more than your parents. I have such fond memories of them both. Both of you too!
Love to all of you, take care of each other.
