Joyce Frangiamore Obituary

Joyce Ann (Alaimo) Frangiamore, beloved wife of Roger C. Frangiamore for over 57 years, passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2023. She was 79 years old.

Joyce was born on Feb. 26, 1943, the daughter of the late Angela and Mathew Alaimo. She lived her entire life in Enfield and Somers. She was the third of five siblings and survived by her older sisters Esther Alaimo and Connie Dougan, and her younger brothers Chic and Matt Alaimo. She was a loving mother of her two children, Sam and Jodi; and a loving grandmother to her two granddaughters Samantha Tegan Frangiamore (14 yrs.) and Sylvia Taylor Frangiamore (3 yrs.).

Joyce graduated from Our Lady of the Angels (OLA) in 1960 and UConn in 1964. Joyce started teaching for the Enfield public school system in 1964. She later went on to receive her 6th level masters degree in 1971. After taking off 16 years to raise her children, she returned to teaching in 1984 and taught for 19 more years. After she retired in 2003, she volunteered at the Enfield Food Shelf for the rest of her life. Joyce demonstrated extraordinary kindness, humility and integrity. She was a giving person and always put others first. She had many close friends and enjoyed playing in her bridge club for decades. She was an avid reader and walker. She also enjoyed traveling, tennis and golf. She was a member at Elmcrest and The Springfield Country Golf Clubs, where she made a hole-in-one. She was a devout Catholic and attended the All Saints Church in Somersville.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon, Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at St. Patrick Church, 64 Pearl St., Enfield, in downtown Thompsonville (Please meet directly at Church). Burial will be held after the Mass at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery and a reception will follow. Joyce will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Roger and Family,
My deepest sympathies for the loss of your wife, your mom, your grandmother, your sister. A beautiful person and friend to so many. I have memories of gathering around the table at Springfield CC and sharing a golf cart at Elmcrest. I remember Joyce for her spirit-filled personality and her kindness. I will always keep her in my heart. God Bless.
Love, Joyce Donovan
