Kathleen Welch Obituary
Kathleen E. Welch
Kathleen E. (Robsky) Welch, 77, of Somers, CT, beloved wife of Timothy N. Welch, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Born in White Plains, NY on February 6, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Richard Stanley Robsky and Elizabeth Lucy (Rowledge) Robsky and was a forty-plus year resident of Somers.
Kathy's family moved to Wethersfield, CT when Kathy was in high school. Kathy and Tim celebrated the 60th anniversary of their first date at Stafford Speedway on July 2. Kathy and Tim were married October 8, 1971 and together enjoyed over 53 wonderful years of marriage, raising their family in the town they loved. Kathy was a stay-at-home mom for many years before she went back to work as an IT professional in both the Insurance and Technical Software industries. In her earlier IT years, she had a talent for "de-bugging."
In the early 1980s, Kathy and Tim bought an old apple orchard and designed their dream home. Kathy's father drafted the plans, construction blueprints were finalized, and "Ivy Acres" came to life. When they decided to downsize, the "Forget-Me-Not Cottage" was restored. Her homes were infused with her needlepoint, gardening, interior decorating, and personality, and her designs and choices bring smiles to this day. Kathy loved hosting family gatherings, particularly holiday dinners and vacations at the beach, and cherished the time with her loved ones and close friends.
Kathy was an active member of the Somers Village Players as a Producer, Director, Actress, Costumer, and other positions. She worked for twenty years as the Somers High School Drama Club Advisor, working with thousands of young people and their families over the years. Kathy later founded Standing Room Only Productions and held outdoor, theatre-in-the-round, G-rated shows at Worthington Pond Farm, and wrote over 65 Stage Right Production Notebooks. She also served as an Ex-Officio Member of the Somers Education Foundation for many years. Kathy took great joy in being a part of the theatre and school communities where she was known for her warmth, dedication, and sense of humor.
In addition to her husband Tim, she leaves her loving children Andrew Welch and husband Chris Benecke of San Rafael, CA, and Sarah Maskill and her husband James Maskill of Somers, CT. She will be greatly missed by her two adored grandsons, James T Maskill and Benjamin Maskill, and many extended family members and town friends.
Kathy's family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the funeral home, with burial immediately following at Somers West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Somers Education Foundation, P.O. Box 624, Somers, CT 06071.
