Lucy Doering Obituary

Lucy Randazzo Doering, 93, of Windsor Locks, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2006. She will always be remembered for her sunny disposition and cheery attitude.

Lucy lived a happy and wonderful life with her husband, Bill, who passed away in 1973. She then became active at the Windsor Locks Senior Center and lived for years at the Senior Housing where she enjoyed participating in all of the activities and made many new and wonderful friends. She then spent her last few years at Bickford Health Care Center in Windsor Locks, and again enjoyed herself there. Lucy was a wonderful person, mother and grandmother.

Lucy leaves behind three children, Jane Couture and her husband, Don, of Enfield, Terry Young of Amston, and Joe Doering and his wife, Kathy, of Windsor Locks. She leaves 10 grandchildren, Debbie Couture and her fiancé, Tom, Tod Couture and his wife, Cheryl, David Couture and his wife, Jennifer, Duane Couture and his wife, Lori, Marylou Hentschel and her husband, Don, Darcy Young, Christopher Doering, Travis Doering, Becky Doering, and Alexis Doering. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren, Diana, Timur, Brian, Brianna, and Kristen.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Bickford for the wonderful care they provided her, and her long time physician, Alan Soroka, for his care. In addition, they would like to express their thanks to her "family of friends" at Bickford for all of their time and attention, and a special thanks to Betty, Althea and Frances. All of the staff and residents at Bickford became her extended family and made her last few years pleasant and enjoyable.

Funeral services were held today at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated. Interment followed in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Donations in Lucy's name can be made to the Bickford Health Care Center, 14 Main St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096 or to the Windsor Locks Senior Center, 41 Oak St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096.

I have not seen Lucy in a long long time. Since moving away from Windsor Locks in 1977 I have visited her a few times, but I have very fond memories of her. She was like a Grandmother to us since our Grandparents lived in Pennsylvania. I loved her great italian cooking and I still use her meatball and sauce recipe to this day. Heaven is very lucky to have such a terific woman and cook. I can remember one time when Lucy hired me to paint her closets( I was about 13 years old). She was a wonderful person and I know she will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

I enjoyed your mother on a daily basis while I was visiting my mother, Pauline Routhier. I had the opportunity to play cards, bingo and do crafts with her. She always had a smile and was very pleasant to be around. I will miss her smiling at me when I go to visit my mother. My thoughts will be with you during this difficult time.

Our sympathy goes to the entire Doering family. Our families knew each other when Joey and I were young boys in Windsor Locks. I have fond memories of Lucy always smiling, and we have one of Bill and Lucy's anniversary parties on our home video. Again, our sympathy to the entire family.
