Marie Saulnier Obituary

Marie (Comeau) Saulnier
1933 - 2025
Marie (Comeau) Saulnier died peacefully on the morning of August 27, 2025, which happened to be her 92nd birthday. Marie was born to parents Charles and Rose Anne (Babin) Comeau in Nova Scotia, Canada where she spent her early years. After graduating from school, she began work as a teacher. It was during this time that she met, fell in love with, and married Louis Saulnier. The couple welcomed four beloved children – Howard, Colin, Alyre, and Brenda – and relocated to East Hartford, CT.
Her family recalls Marie running her household with care and with purpose. She paid the bills, raised the kids, and everyone respected her authority as the boss of the house. In the 1970s, Marie worked for Top Notch Foods. She subsequently went to work for CT Bank and Trust throughout the '80s and '90s, including during the bank's transition to Bank of America. After retirement, Marie was a member of the Manchester Senior Center where she enjoyed spending time and occasionally volunteering as well.
Ever the traveler, Marie experienced countless vacations throughout the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Disney World. She enjoyed cruises in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Alaska and enjoyed group tours of the Canadian Rockies. As much as Marie valued visiting new places, there was perhaps nowhere that brought her more joy than returning home to Nova Scotia to visit family and make memories.
Marie is survived by her children Colin Saulnier (Virginia) of East Hartford, Alyre Saulnier (wife Lori) of Manchester, and Brenda Saulnier of East Hartford. She is also fondly remembered by her four adored grandchildren Gordin, Erica, Paige, and Patrick (Kristin) Saulnier, her two dear great-grandchildren Kyle and Zoey Lewis, her sweet granddog Johnnie, and many friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her three siblings Eddie Comeau, Irenee Comeau, and Alice LeBlanc, and her son Howard.
The family would like to send special thanks to the staff at Welles Country Village and the Masonicare Hospice workers who took care of Marie during her last months of life.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd from 4-7 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, CT 06040. Yesterday

Alyre and Family- I know the pain that you are all going through. Find comfort in knowing that she lived a full and active life; surrounded by family and friends. Take comfort and support from each other. And, you can always turn to the Lord to find peace for your soul. God bless you all.
