Marilyn McCann, born on March 15, 1944, in Rockville, Connecticut, lived her life as an embodiment of love, faith, and kindness. She passed away and was promoted to glory on November 17, 2024, at the age of 80, as a longtime resident of Manchester, where she created a life full of beautiful relationships and wonderful memories.
Marilyn's story is one of warmth and connectivity - for close to 40 years she was the face everyone knew at Manchester Honda, greeting every customer with a smile that could light up a room. Her genuine kindness didn't just make her beloved by colleagues, but we are pretty sure she helped facilitate a few car sales over the years.
Summers for Marilyn meant sandy feet and ocean breezes at Dunes Park in Rhode Island, a cherished tradition for the McCann family. She embraced her role on the Social Committee there, ensuring that beach days were filled with fun and camaraderie. Marilyn's vibrant personality and famous wine spritzers were as much as part of the summer as her reminding you to make sure you had your parking pass in your car's window.
Marilyn cherished every moment spent as a grandmother. In Kyle and his wife, Nicole, Seth and his fiancé, Kaylani, Heather and her significant other, Austin and her two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Tristan. She saw the vibrant future and loved them fiercely. She was especially thrilled with the news of a new life, with her great-granddaughter expected in February 2025.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Tom "Junior", parents Harold and Evelyn Hoering, her brother Billy "Snake" Hoering, and survived by her sons Bruce and his wife Karen, Todd and his wife Alicia, her grandchildren, her brother-in-law Tim, and his wife Faith, her nephew Hans and his wife Stephanie, an aunt, and many cousins.
She was a dedicated member of the Manchester Salvation Army Citadel. Attending weekly mass, bible studies, prayer groups, feeding those in need and ringing the bells at Christmas are treasured and irreplaceable memories that will go with her wherever her Promotion to Glory takes her.
Please look for her in the reflection of paint in a cool hotrod, the evening sunset at the beach, the smile of someone on a stroll with their dog, or in the shimmer of a koi pond. You know she'll be there in one form or another. Today, she is happy she has started her new journey with the Lord.
All are welcome to join her family for calling hours at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, (Rt-83) in Vernon on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Manchester Salvation Army Citadel, 661 Main St. in Manchester on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. At the request of her family, burial will be private.
