Mary Mattoon Obituary

Mary Frey Mattoon, originally from the East Windsor and Enfield area, passed to a better world Feb. 26, 2018.

In May of 1992, Mary moved to Anchorage, Alaska and she never looked back. She loved camping. She was always happy to be by that fire. She loved Alaska from the minute she got there.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Roderick S. Mattoon; and her beautiful black Lab and other best friend, Jasmine. Pack up the RV and she was in heaven.

Mary was also a very active life member of the great American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Post 2, Anchorage, often coordinating, and volunteering.

Mary is also survived by three sisters, Gail Morin and her husband, Richard, of Somers, Carol Ornifer and her husband, Andy, of Enfield, and Joan Cancelliers of Sturbridge, Massachusetts; and a whole bunch of nieces and nephews.

A burial service will be held at noon April 21, at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Blue Hills Avenue, Bloomfield. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception at the Skyline Restaurant on Ella Grasso Turnpike in Windsor Locks. All are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to AMVETS Post 2, 855 East 38th St., Anchorage, AK 99503.

We will always love and miss you.

Wow mary, it seemed like yesterday that we talked on the phone. I'm stunned, I'm at a lost. I am, however glad to see you still liked camping. Brings back the days you went with me and my family camping to Rhode Island. Your back home, and the Angel's will be blessed to have you. Love you, Julz
