Mary (Lehan) Sullivan
Mary (Lehan) Sullivan, 93, of South Windsor, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born in Hartford, CT, on July 2, 1931, daughter of the late James and Agnes (Sheridan) Lehan. She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Saint Jospeh College in West Hartford, CT and a master's degree from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Mary taught English and Latin at Ellington High School for more than 20 years before her retirement. She was the former president of the Friends of the South Windsor Public Library, former president of her homeowner's association and a member of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts MENSA. Prior to her illness she enjoyed spending time at the South Windsor Bark Park with her Westie, Frodo.
She leaves her children, Toby J. Sullivan of Kodiak, AK, Lehan W. Sullivan and his wife Elise of Glastonbury, Justin M. Sullivan and his wife Kavita Singh Brar of San Juan, PR, and Lauren A. Sullivan and her partner Bret Yeilding of South Glastonbury; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jordan Sullivan of Anchorage, AK, Abraham Sullivan of Kodiak, AK, Colin Sullivan of Los Angeles, CA, Patrick Dykstra of Elkridge, MD, Catherine Murphy of College Park, MD, Elizabeth Tirado and her children, Jessalynn and Rocco of East Hartford, Rory Sullivan and his daughter Willow of Jackson Hole, WY, and Luke Sullivan and his wife Brittney and their children, Callie Mae, and Brendan of Loudon, NH. She was predeceased by her former husband, William B. Sullivan, her son, Brendan B. Sullivan, and grandson, Alec B. Sullivan. Her family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her caregivers Tameka Davy and Eunice Oduro.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 2-3 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A service will follow in the funeral home, beginning at 3 p.m. A private burial will take place at Wapping Cemetery.

We LOVED Mary Sullivan, she was one of our mom´s best friends, the Mary´s. Our mom Mary Young passed away a year ago and love your mom. We are so sorry for your loss. Your mom spoke often of her children and grandchildren. She will be missed, but always in our memories .. The Young sisters

Mrs. Sullivan was a terrific teacher! She had a knack for guiding her students to understanding the material with her knowledge and sharp wit. I remember her very fondly. RIP Mary.
