Mary Wilson Obituary

Mary E. Wilson
Mary E. (Lloyd) Wilson, 77, of Vernon, passed away on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, in her home. She was born June 16, 1947, to the late Lewis and Avis (Gidney) Lloyd of Vernon. In 2005, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Kenneth Wilson. Married for 35 years, Ken and Mary shared a special bond that was exemplified in their day-to-day love for one another and the love they shared with others.
Mary graduated from Rockville High School and immediately began a career as an X-ray technician at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Years later, she began working as a paraprofessional at Center Road school, until she retired to care for Ken while he was fighting cancer. While serving in this capacity, she formed bonds with many students that lasted until current day. It is clear the impact she made on their lives by the love they still show her today.
A lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Vernon, Mary helped to create the church's Tree of Life, after creating one at the DeQuattro Community Cancer Center. Throughout her patronage of St. John's, she contributed to the church in many ways, such as maintaining the prayer list and serving on the altar guild. Over the years, she became an integral member of the St. John's community, serving the members and God in many ways.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Dannielle, and her son-in-law, Jason Squatrito of Cohasset, MA; her three grandchildren that were the center of her world, Jacob, Leah and Benjamin Squatrito; her sisters and their spouses, Pauline and Carl Schaefer of Rockville, Lois Valliere of Coventry, and Gloria and David Gourley of Norfolk; her very close friends, Cathy Steinnagel and Debbie Parrott; numerous nieces, nephews and many other people she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Cosman and her husband Gerald, her brother, Herbert Lloyd and his wife Katherine, and her brother-in-law, Thomas Valliere (husband of Lois).
Mary's warmth radiated through the lives of her family and friends every day. She treasured her relationships and was unfailingly generous with her time, support, and compassion to all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sun., March 23, 2025, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2025, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 523 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066.
