Michael Kurys Obituary
Mike was born on Sept. 5, 1955, in Hartford, son of Helen (Hajdasz) Kurys of Bolton and the late Casimir Kurys. He was raised on the family farm in Bolton, attended local schools, and was a graduate of Bolton High School, Class of 1973, and New England Tractor Trailer Training School. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for over 42 years with Connecticut Natural Gas, and was a member of the Connecticut Independent Utility Workers Union Local 12924.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating, and was a former communicant of St. Maurice Church in Bolton.
In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his son, Casimir Kurys, his fiancée, Courtney, and their daughter, Briar Kurys, all of Coventry; his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Bruce Dixon, Janet and Donald Assard, and Nancy and Robert Isleib, all of Bolton; his brother, Joseph Kurys of Bolton; a sister-in-law, Jill Kurys of Hebron; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends. Besides his father, Casimir, Mike was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Kurys.
Visiting hours for family and friends are Monday, May 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Maurice Church, 32 Hebron Road, Bolton, CT 06043. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Bolton Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Maurice Care & Share Program, c/o St. Maurice Church.

Oh, my heart hurts hearing of Mikey's passing! He was just one of the sweetest persons I'd ever known and I truly treasured our friendship from many, many years gone by. My love and sympathies to his family and friends in this very difficult time! He touched many lives and his kindnesses will never be forgotten. Love ya always, Mikey! You were such a good friend.

Michael (and his brothers) were a part of a 'family' of fellow Boltonites and members of Saint Maurice Church. Michael and I were fellow mass-servers at Saint Maurice. I still remember, to this day, when we servers all went down to Norwich in 1972 to witness and celebrate the ordination of John Gudz, who had worked as a deacon at Saint Maurice during the prior year. Michael never missed serving at the Good Friday liturgies at Saint Maurice during my youth. He and his family were people of faith. May the Angels lead Michael (his brother Thomas is already there) to Paradise. RIP, Michael.
