Nicholas Mayer Obituary
He was born on March 4, 1999, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Bruce Mayer and Rita Malenczyk. He was a 2017 graduate of Tolland High School and later attended UConn. Nick was a gifted athlete, and was particularly proud to have helped the Tolland-E.O. Smith Bucks hockey team win a state high school championship in 2015.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Samuel Mayer of Tolland and Peter Mayer of Boca Raton, Florida; grandmothers Gloria Mayer of Farmington and Hedy Malenczyk of St. Louis, Missouri; Uncle Lance Mayer and Aunt Gay Myers of Ledyard, Aunt Jean Mayer and Uncle Jacob Kos of Shushan, New York, and Aunt Donna Igou and Uncle Ronald Igou of St. Louis.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, Jan. 13, between 5 and 8 p.m. at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road, Tolland.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland. Burial will follow at South Cemetery in Tolland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness
