Norma Picard Obituary

Norma Picard, 68, of Hinesville, Ga., formerly of Ellington, beloved wife of 48 years of Daniel Picard, lost her 30-year battle with multiple sclerosis. She died at home Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, surrounded by her adoring family.

She was born on March 3, 1944, to the late Norman Peloquin and Esther (Pelchat, Peloquin) Vekakis of Easthampton, Mass. Norma grew up in Easthampton then moved as a newlywed to Enfield. She and Dan raised their family in Ellington, and retired to Hinesville in 2001. Incredibly generous and loving, her greatest joy was family and friends. To know her was to be forever touched by her. Norma was very active in her churches and communities.

In addition to her father who died when she was a young child, Norma is predeceased by her stepfather, George Vekakis, and aunt, Gertrude Pelchat. Besides her husband, Norma is survived by her daughters who cherish her, Melissa Gallagher, and her husband, Michael, of Woodbine, Md., Kristen Picard-Wambolt, and her husband, Harry, of Ellington, and Melanie Higley, and her husband, Joseph, of Hinesville. She is also survived by her pride and joy, her loving grandchildren, Kevin, John, and Nathan Gallagher, Joseph and Deanna Wambolt, Breanne, Joshua and Ryan Higley. Words cannot express how deeply Norma is missed.

Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ellington. Burial will immediately follow.

Kris and Family-there are no words adequately enough to say how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Just know I am here if ever you need a friend to talk to-your mom was a beautiful person and so positive. I will cherish the memories I have of times spent with her. Love Tammy
