Philip Bannock Obituary

Philip C. Bannock, 64, of Enfield, beloved husband of 37 years to Elizabeth (Clark) Bannock, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at home.

Son of the late Philip R. Bannock and Margaret (Miller) Martin, and stepson of the late Harry Martin, Phil was born in Hartford on Feb. 9, 1947. A 1966 graduate of East Windsor High, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving his country until he was honorably discharged in 1970. He later continued his education at MCC and graduated with a degree in science in 1982. Phil's interest in the sciences and his natural mechanical abilities led him to pursue a career as a nuclear technician for the former Combustion Engineering. He traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, maintaining nuclear power plants. He also worked for PTR in Enfield, retiring in 2010 after 15 years in the laser/electron beam welding industry. An avid fisherman, Phil was most passionate about shad season and took first place in the 2000 Shad Derby fishing tournament in Windsor. To all his fishing buddies, Phil says, "Shad On!" Please remember him as you cast your lines into the Farmington and Connecticut rivers this spring.

Besides his beloved wife, Beth, Phil is survived by his sons, Joel Bannock of East Windsor and Timothy Bannock, and his partner, Laurie Landry, of North Hollywood, Calif. He also leaves to mourn him his brothers, Gerald Bannock, and his wife, Gail, Daniel Martin, and his wife, Shirley, Gene Martin, and his wife, Michelle; and his devoted sister, Carol Pescik, and her husband, Alan. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Nancy Vogel, and her husband, Randy; along with many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Phil was predeceased by his brother, Russell Bannock; his nephew, Joshua Martin; and his in-laws, John and Martha Clark, and their son, William.

Phil's family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ian Tucker and his staff; hospice nurse, Lisa Albert; and the hospice aides for their excellent care, compassion, and support throughout his illness.

Phil's family will receive relatives and friends for calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil's memory to fund pancreatic cancer research may be sent to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714, or to North Central Hospice & Palliative Care, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
