Robert "Bob" Germain
Robert "Bob" Germain of Suffield, passed away on August 25, 2024 to be at rest with his parents Richard and Florence Germain, his wife Shirley, son Michael, and sister Dorothy. Born and raised in North Adams MA, Bob grew up on a farm learning a work ethic that would last him a lifetime. Following high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he saw action in the Korean Conflict aboard the 119 USS Juneau. While in the Philadelphia Naval Station on leave, he met the love of his life, Shirley and they married in 1953.
Following his discharge, they moved to Pittsfield, MA and in 1956 moved to Enfield where they purchased their first house and raised their two young boys. Bob took a position at Pratt & Whitney and Shirley worked as a homemaker and part time legal assistant. In 1965 they built their new home in Suffield and Bob took a position at Kaman Aerospace where he rose to the position of Inspector, retiring in 1992. Bob enjoyed collecting coins, woodworking, building, fishing, and most of all driving his truck pulling the RV all over New England and parts of Canada with Shirley. They were a perfect team in all respects, and very much enjoyed visiting neighbors, and watching their three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren grow up. In 2017 they moved to Stonebrook Village in Windsor Locks where they made many new friends.
Among other things, Bob will be remembered for his humble and polite manner, his ability to fix almost anything, a willingness to help almost anyone and dedication to his family.
Bob is survived by his son Robert and his wife Linda of Berlin; three granddaughters Lindsay Revoir and her husband Dean of Berlin, Jenna Trudeau and her husband Dan of Glastonbury, Kimberly Giordano and her husband Tony of Avon; great-grandchildren Brody Revoir, Trey Trudeau, Ella Revoir, Kyla Giordano, Tyra Trudeau, Luca Giordano; co-great-grandparent Lorraine Magnoli of Rocky Hill; Meredith Bradbury of West Chester PA; niece Amy Bradbury; and nephews Scott, Mark, Chris Bradbury and their families.
