Robert Joseph Hiller, Sr.
Robert Joseph Hiller, Sr., 88, passed away on February 25, 2025, peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side.
He was married 67 years to Eleanor S. (Bloniarz) Hiller. He was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Rockville to the late William C. Hiller, Jr. and Helen (Lemek). He is survived by, his son Richard (Kim) Hiller of Tolland, son Robert J. Hiller, Jr. (Sharon) Hiller of Tolland, son William J. Hiller, Sr., Stafford Springs, daughter Susan Dombek, Vernon, daughter Mary (George) Pippin, Stafford Springs, son Timothy (Susan) Hiller, Daytona Beach, Florida, daughter Nancy (James) Krupienski, Vernon. Bob is also survived by his sister, Mary Jane Yuodsnukis (predeceased husband Gerald), Broad Brook, his In-laws Dorothy Bloniarz, Stella Bachiochi, Patricia LeBel, predeceased husband Albert LeBel. Raymond Bloniarz and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, John and Stella (Kita) Bloniarz, brothers-in-law, John Bloniarz Jr, Leo Bachiochi and sister-in-law, Bonnie Bloniarz. Predeceased by his son, Kenneth M. Hiller, Grandson, William J. Hiller, Jr.
Bob graduated from Cheney Tech, Manchester and served the Air National Guard for 6 years. He worked at Rockville Woodworking as a carpenter, First National Warehouse and Cohoes. He was a carpenter and locksmith for many years. He was an active member of the St. Joseph Church men's club and Stafford Senior Center. Bob was also a Boy Scout leader of troop 815 in Rockville.
Bob's greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren whether taking them fishing or on camping trips. He and Eleanor enjoyed traveling, watching NASCAR and the occasional trip to the casino.
Bob enjoyed feeding the birds and deer that would frequent their backyard. He especially enjoyed visits from dogs Carl and Sandy.
Relatives and friends may join the family from 4 p.m.-7 p.m., Mon., March 3, 2025, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home 76 Prospect St. Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tues., March 4, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, 33 West St., Rockville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Rockville,
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pawsafe Animal Rescue, LLC, 110 Sandy Beach Road, Ellington, CT 06029.
