Robert John Howarth, 85, beloved husband of Anneliese (Roth) passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday December 11, 2025, at Hartford Hospital. He was born April 26, 1940, in Hartford, the son of the late John and Katherine (Wabrek) Howarth. Robert worked his entire career as a land surveyor and was employed at Fuss & O'Neill for over two decades. He was an avid Red Sox fan in his younger years, and later in life especially enjoyed watching UConn basketball. Robert took great pride in his family, hard work, and his faith. He spent all day outside on survey jobs, often returning home to continue working in his yard – over time, transforming the family's property to exacting standards. Above all, Robert was a family man and loved spending weekends together at Candlewood Lake when his children were younger, and more recently, with their spouses and his grandchildren. Along with his loving wife, Anneliese, Robert is survived by his three children: Heidi Howarth and her husband Harry Silverstein of Melrose, MA; Mark Howarth and Lilly Becker of Copake, NY; Eric and Colleen Howarth of Ridgefield, CT; and four grandchildren: Sarah and Caleb Silverstein, and Caroline and Thomas Howarth. Robert was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Amo, and a nephew, William Crockett.
The family is deeply thankful to All Ways There Home Care and the professional and loving care provided over the last year by Robert's caretakers, Sonjay and Sontay, whose gentle care, companionship, compassion, and dignity shown to Robert made it possible for him to remain in his home.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 27th at 10:30 a.m. in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 112 Cooper St., with burial to follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to either the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. John F.
