Roger Callegari Obituary
Roger Callegari, a wise, loving, and remarkably handyman, passed away on March 8, 2024, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with chronic kidney disease and ALS. Born on September 1, 1947, in New Britain, to the late Peter and Mary (Buck) Callegari.
Married to his beloved wife and best friend, Shirley Wilhelm, for 43 years, Roger was a devoted husband. Their enduring partnership was filled with unwavering support for one another through life's many turns.
Roger graduated from New Britain High School and Goodwin Vocational Technical School. His professional life was marked by precision, creativity and a work ethic that inspired many. His life was characterized by his deep commitment to his wife, his passion for the outdoors and his exceptional skill as a Master Carpenter.
He was an avid fly fisherman. His love for the sport was only matched by his enjoyment of shooting trap and skeet. It was in these moments of quiet reflection by the water or the thrill of competition that Roger felt most at peace with the world.
Roger was predeceased by his two sisters, Dorothy Callegari and Judith Callegari. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he leaves his beloved sweet Annie Marie. He will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to thank the Mansfield Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care, especially Charlotte B, Lynne P, Mary and Sarah.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a Funeral Home Service following at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 15th at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Rd. (Rte. 195), Tolland. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Tolland.
