Roger Ouellette Obituary
1942 - 2023
Roger C. Ouellette, 81, of South Windsor, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at St. Francis Hospital, following a car accident. Son of the late Chester and Louise (Certuse) Ouellette, Roger was born in Springfield, MA, on June 22, 1942. He grew up in Manchester, CT, and was a dedicated paper delivery boy working one of the largest routes in town. After his graduation from Manchester High School Roger attended University of Hartford and received a Bachelor's, Master's, and 6-year teaching degree. Roger had a 34-year career in education beginning in Tolland as a fourth grade teacher and then moved to Vernon after a year, where he worked in special education and finally middle school science. Roger was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and was known for his wide array sports facts. He was also a member of the Rockville Elks, South Windsor Senior Men's golf league, and enjoyed spending quiet time at his lake house in Ashford, CT. He took many trips with the South Windsor Senior Center and visited Ireland, California, and National Parks.
Roger is survived by his sister, Janet Rodrigue (Norman) of Bolton, CT; his nieces, Christine Rhoden (Edward) of Firestone, CO, and Victoria Rodrigue (Richard Gowers) of Kennebunk, ME. He was predeceased by his parents.
Relatives and friends are invited to the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. in Manchester for a visitation TODAY, October 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, October 7th at St. Maurice Church, 32 Hebron Rd. in Bolton at 10:00 a.m. (please meet directly at church). Our family lived on the corner of Helsinki Road and Dorothy Road in Rolling Hills, Manchester. Roger and his Mom delivered our Manchester Evening Herald for as long as I can remember. He was always kind, polite, and represented the Herald in the best way. So sorry for his untimely passing. Sandi Hennig

Sorry to read about Rogers passing. He was a childhood friend fro Rolling Park in Manchester. If I remember correctly Roger had a couple of really big paper routes.

Roger Ouellette was a good person. He was kind, gentle, trusting, and loyal. It was a blessing and an honor for me having him as a friend since 1973 when we first met as young colleagues. Our times together will always give me pleasant memories, especially the outings at ball games. My sincere sympathies to Roger´s family, and myself personally, I will really miss him.

Roger and his mother delivered our newspapers on Barry Road in Manchester for many years when they lived on Willard Street back in the 1970's and 1980's. Mrs. Ouellette always brought my little sister and me candy on Fridays when she came collecting. Roger often delivered our family the newspaper as well. It was the Manchester Herald. Roger was always friendly and kind. It was many years ago but our family remembers him vividly. I'm so sorry for your family's loss.
