Rosemarie Vilece Obituary

Rosemarie Vilece, 88, of Somers, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2021, at NHC Healthcare in Garden City, South Carolina, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Robert J. Vilece.

Rose was born in the Bronx, New York, on Nov. 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Raffaela (Calabrese) Taddeo. She was educated in local schools and worked for many years in the production department of Milton Bradley, retiring in 1998. In her early years, Rose enjoyed dancing and in her later years she loved to travel and go to the beach. Rose was a woman of extraordinary faith and a longtime parishioner of St Bernard Church.

Rose was able to see the joy and opportunity that life gave her even during the most difficult of times. She enjoyed each and every day to the fullest and she made the world a better place for all of us. What was most important to Rose throughout her life was her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. She would never turn down an opportunity to spend time with any of them no matter the time or day. Rose will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her and we are most thankful to have had her in our lives.

Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her daughters: Christine Vilece Casey and her husband, Tom, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Sue Thompson of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, with whom Rose made her home for 27 wonderful years, Claire Lewis and her husband, Tim, of Enfield and Robin Gill of Somers. She also leaves a sister, Alberta Wallis, of Lynchburg Virginia; and her beloved grandchildren: Alicia Dessereau, Kyle Lewis, Danielle Casey Quevedo, Morgan and Sydney Gill, and Melissa Warner; and two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Lucas.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vilece will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 11 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Jeanne Jugan Parish, St Bernard Church, with the Rev. John Melnick as principal celebrant, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Rose's family on Tuesday evening, June 22, from 5-7 p.m. at the Leete Stevens Funeral Home 61 South Road, Enfield.
