Sally J. Walsh passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, in Newport, Vermont, at the age of 79 after a short battle with cancer. Born on May 26, 1945, in Bolton, Connecticut, Sally was the daughter of the late Ralph and Orra Strickland.
Sally was a devoted mother who raised three sons with boundless care, strength with unwavering support and guidance throughout their lives. After a rewarding career with the Town of Manchester, Sally retired to Barton, Vermont, where she embraced the serenity of the home, she and her late husband Tom lovingly built together.
A woman of creativity and quiet passions, Sally found joy in traveling with family, watching Nascar, reading, needlework, and puzzle books. Her intricate craftsmanship brought beauty to those around her, while her love for puzzles reflected her thoughtful and reflective nature.
Sally was predeceased by her husband Thomas F Walsh, sisters Pat Reed and Carol Wood, grandson Christopher Pine, nephew Peter Reed, niece Patty-Ann Reed, and niece Meghan Strickland. Sally leaves behind three sons; Jeffrey Pine of Manchester, CT, Todd Pine and wife Jodie of Manchester, CT, John Pine and wife Leslie of Fairfield, ID. Six grandchildren, Kyle, Allison, Austin, Michael, Nate, and Timothy and three great grandchildren, Sophia, Wyatt and Hailey, brother Ralph Strickland and wife Andrea Hebron, CT, and sister-in-law Mary Walsh and brother-in-law Richard Walsh of Manchester
The family would like to thank the kind and caring staffs of North Country Hospital, Newport, VT, Bel-Aire Center, Newport, VT, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH, Dartmouth Cancer Center, St Johnsbury, VT. Their thoughtfulness and time spent with Sally was greatly appreciated.
Friends may call on Friday January 3rd 4-7 pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street, Manchester CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St Jude Children's Hospital in her name. For online condolences, please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
