Shirley Antonelli Obituary
Shirley G. (Mott) Antonelli
Shirley G. (Mott) Antonelli, 93, of Vernon, beloved wife to the late William James Antonelli, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Sunday, September 7, 2025. She was born on November 3, 1931, the daughter to the late Chester and Florence Mott.
Shirley was raised in Riverside, RI, where she became the matriarch of the family at the young age of 21 when both of her parents unexpectedly passed away. Family was always the most important thing to Shirley. She loved roller skating, camping, bingo, and big weekend BBQ's surrounded by family and friends. She was a hard worker, helping to support her family from the very young age of 13. She was proud of her many years with Colt Firearms, but retirement never slowed her down. She was a volunteer at Florence Mills where she resided from 1997 to 2023. It was there, in 2006, that she met her second love and fiancé, the late Clyde Shackford. They spent many happy years cheering on the UConn basketball teams, camping at Ginny B Campground and of course precious moments spent with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Donna Antonelli-Russell and her husband Mark of Vernon; her grandson, Ryan Antonelli and his wife Niki and their children Gavin and Alexus; her granddaughter, Bailey Russell Leonard and her husband Ryan and their children McKenzie "Mickey", Rayden and Vincenzo; her grandson, Tyler Russell and his partner Christine; her son by choice, Timothy Grant and his wife Deb; her granddaughter, Stacey Hansen and her husband Scott and their children Bradley and Dylan; her granddaughter, Shannon Waluk and her husband Chris and their children Iggy, Lu, and Gwen; her brother, Paul Mott and his wife Carol "sister my sister"; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her husband, fiancé, and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Jackson and her husband Raymond; her brother, Chester Mott and his wife Joan; and her brother, Victor Mott and his wife Hazel. Shirley was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rt 83) in Vernon. Burial will be held privately in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville.
