William Correia Obituary

William "Bill" Correia Jr.
William "Bill" Correia Jr., 66, of Ellington, loving husband of 44 years of Elizabeth (Rocha) Correia, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Bill was born on August 1, 1957, in Manchester, one of 4 beloved children of the late William Correia Sr. and Helen (Lucianno) Correia. He was raised in Manchester, attended local schools, and was a graduate of East Catholic High School before he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Bryant University.
An ardent family man, he spent his spare time coaching his son's baseball teams, serving as a Pop Warner Football Coach and business manager, and was a founding member of the Bunnell Wrestling Parents Association. Bill could often be heard loudly cheering his sons at their various sporting events. He was a proud Vovô who enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters Emerson and Georgie.
Bill was employed for over 30 years with UTC and Pratt & Whitney, holding various roles in finance before his retirement in 2009. Outside of his professional life, Bill was a big proponent of helping others and his community. He was involved in the United Way, organizing fundraisers like the "Drop the Ball for a Good Cause" flag football tournament. He acted as chairman for the Stratford Board of Assessment Appeals and as a member of the Ellington Inland Wetlands Agency. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Ellington Senior Center teaching technology courses. He was a diehard Red Sox fan and he wasn't afraid to let everyone know.
In addition to his loving wife, Elizabeth, Bill leaves his three sons, Alexander Correia and his wife, Jordan, and their two daughters: Emerson and Georgianne all of Asheville, NC, Stephen Correia and his wife, Leah of Ledyard and David Correia and his partner, Alaina of Manchester. His two sisters and their spouses, Mary Beth and Paul Litrico of Manchester and Patricia Ann and Jose Rivera of Poinciana, FL, several nieces, nephews, their families and many wonderful friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, David Correia.
Calling hours will be at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road in Vernon, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. with a Prayer Service at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ellington Volunteer Ambulance Corps at 41 Maple Street Ellington, CT 06029. Liz and family, please accept my condolences at the loss of Bill. We shared some great times during our years together at Bryant. Bill was always in the middle whatever trouble was being stirred up at Phi Sigma Nu. May he rest in eternal peace with his family in heaven.

My sincere condolences Liz to you and your family. Bill "Cub" was a bright light in any room he entered. His big smile and heart were always present and welcoming as was yours. Reflecting back on our Bryant college days I saw you and Bill as a rock solid couple exuding love. Blessing to you and your family during this difficult time. I will not be able to attend the life celebration as I am sponsoring my son's bachelor party golf outing on Saturday.

To the Correia family,
Likewise, Bill had a positive impact on my career. I loved chatting with him, and seeing him mess with all the yankee fans. I am indebted to him for his kindness and support of me. I am sorry for your loss. He was one of a kind!!
