William Pomeroy Obituary
Born May 3, 1946, to the late Austin C. and Elizabeth Fowler (Peck) Pomeroy. After graduating from MHS in 1964, William went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 34 years. William, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 102, also past post commander and Chaplain. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 2046, 1st Cavalry Div. Assoc., 2nd Infantry Div., and the 3rd Armored Cal. Div. Assoc. and although his military career was important, his greatest joy was in spending time with his family and friends and volunteering for Beacon Hospice of East Hartford. He was also a communicant of the North United Methodist Church.
William was predeceased by his grandchildren, Kayla Betts and Joe Betts; great-grandchild Peyton Jones; and nephews James Desso and Kevin Pomeroy. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Lassen) Pomeroy; son Robert Mulcahy (Bethany) of Manchester; and daughters Michelle Betts (Thomas) of Lampasas, Texas, Tina Pomeroy-Anderson also of Lampasas, Sabrina Pomeroy of Harker Heights, Texas, Jessica Brothers (Charlie) of Manchester; his brother, Gordon Pomeroy (Phyllis) of Latham, New York; his sister Phyllis Goehring, of Vernon; grandchildren, Jerry Seward II (Shante), Randy Betts, David Anderson, Drew Anderson, Christian Cabrera, Skylar Cabrera, Emily Schwabe, Andrew Schwabe, Isaiah Brothers, Drake Brothers; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor Anderson, Jace Anderson, Madilynn Seward and Evalynn Seward; along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at the American Legion, 20 American Legion Drive, Manchester at 11 a.m. with full military honors.
