Daniel (Opie) Lynden Snetcher 1981—2019
Daniel (Opie) Lynden Snetcher, 38, of Shannon, IL passed away on November 14, 2019. He was born on October 15, 1981 in Freeport, IL to Lynden T. and Robin M. (Springer) Snetcher. He was a 1999 graduate of Eastland High School and would go on to receive a degree in Diesel Engine Repair from Wyo Tech. He was a lifetime farmer on the family farm. He worked for several Case IH dealerships as a mechanic. Later he started his own repair business and custom farming business. He always had a special love for running the combine. In the last few years he began working with the Conklin Company. He became very passionate about it and was quickly moving up the ranks. At the time of his death he had just recently achieved the title as "Director". Dan was also a representative for the Conklin Company. He was passionate about the AgroVantage system and helping producer across the nation achieve top yields. Over the last few years he advanced up the management ladder quickly, achieved Director status this year. While accomplishing this he earned the corporate Spirit of Success award and three Destinations Trip incentives; as well as team awards for the Pathfinder organization. He was a Regional Test Plot coordinator. Because of his passion for helping farmers and his extensive research,he had been selected to receive the prestigious Francis Child's Award for 2019. This award was to be presented at the Conklin Company's 2020 National Convention by the owner and chief executive officer Charles W. Herbster.He belonged to FFA and was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his beloved girlfriend Amber L. Rucker; sons Caleb D. Snetcher and Tatum L. Snetcher; daughter Dani M. Snetcher; Taylor L. Feld; brother Bryan J. Snetcher, nephews George Snetcher and Welden Snetcher; brother Cory L. Snetcher; sisters Carilyn Osllager and Dr. Lindsay M. Snetcher; father Lynden T. Snetcher; grandparents Donald and Barbara Gordon; special aunt and uncle John and Kathy Reed; cousin Dirk Snetcher; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother Robin M. (Springer) Snetcher; and grandparents LaVere and Jennie Snetcher.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 23, 2019 at 10 AM, at the Zion Community Church, 10100 W Sabin Church Rd, Pearl City, IL with Pastors Wayne Fischer and Chip Sohl officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday November 22, 2019 from 4 PM to 8 PM, also at Zion Community Church. Online condolences can be shared at
