She and my mother (Marian Ratmeyer) played piano & organ together at Forreston Grove Church. I remember listening while they practiced. Just the thought brings a smile to my face. So sorry for the loss.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Doris at liberty village when I would go to visit my mother. She was such a kind friendly person and just loved it when I would bring my granddaughter in to visit.

Doris was a good friend to me, with a soft smile and thoughtful words of assurance. We shared music with congregations and for wedding ceremonies countless times beginning in my younger years. I will miss her dearly, but know she is at rest with God, in heaven, listening to and making the most angelic music.

I was “one of those kids” who Mrs. Horner accompanied for music contests. I listened to her play the piano and organ for church services and school musicals. She also “tried” to teach me to play by ear and not by sight—-I did eventually learn how. I will always remember her commitment to family and students in general. Mark and Anne, I wish you well as you remember her life and grieve your loss. Dan Kampen
