Edna Southard Obituary
Edna Marie Southard, 96, passed away July 25th, 2021 at Ascension St. Joseph Village. Edna was born Oct 23, 1924 in Freeport to George and Ruth (Maize) Remmers. On May 27th 1950 she married Delbert Southard. He died October 22nd, 1986. She enjoyed playing cards, bunco, bowling, pitching horseshoes, sewing, boating and spending time with her family. Edna worked at Burgess Battery and Micro Switch until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church (Harmony), First Lutheran Church, and Freeport Moose Lodge. She volunteered at RSVP and FACC. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, step mother Kathleen Remmers, sisters: Opal (Harvey) Wilhelms, Ethel (Robert) Wiegmann, Florence (Virgil) Page. Brothers Lester (Barbara) Remmers, George Jr (Wanda) Remmers, Robert(Martha) Remmers, Leo (Mary) Remmers, and David Starliper. Nephew Earl Remmers and Niece Barbara Ludewig. Edna is survived by sisters Margaret McLane and Donna Starliper of Freeport and Robert and (Norma) McLane of Elizabeth. Nieces and nephews: Harvey (Cathy) Wilhelms , Jerry Ludewig, Tommy (Laura) Page, Ruth Page, JoAnn (Gordy) Greenberg, John Page, Sandy (Mike) Falconer, Dale (Linda) Remmers. David (Colleen) Remmers, DeeDee (Ron) Barr, Susan Remmers, Diane Howarth, Lisa (Harlan) Krohmer, Don McLane, Angie Conklin, Dustin McLane, Mathew McLane. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 28, 2021 at Harmony United Methodist Church. Pastor Eddie Eddy will officiate. Visitation 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been establihsed in Edna's memory. Please sign her guestbook and share a remembrance at www.burketubbs.com
