Josephine "Joie" (Loughlin) Yoder 1944—2018
Josephine "Joie" (Loughlin) Yoder, 73, passed away on October 10, 2018, in Tempe, Arizona where she resided. Joie was born in New York City on November, 2, 1944, to Josephine and Harry Loughlin. She graduated from Cathedral High School there and attended and graduated from Mesa Community College in Arizona. Joie attended Grace Community Church in Tempe, AZ, where she met and married Stephen Dale Yoder of Illinois on September 11, 1982. The last week of her life she recalled many of her early teachings in the Catholic church and school which she attended. Joie loved to read and do puzzles. She especially liked doing craft handiwork which was treasured by her family and friends for she loved sharing them. Joie was a nurse employed by hospitals to care for their High Risk infants. The last five years she worked she was an "Ask-a-Nurse". Joie is survived by her husband, her son, Ben of Phoenix, 3 sisters, Ann (Peter) Kent of San Ramon, CA, Agnes (Mike) Tax of Patchogue, NY, and Rose (Jacky) Jokinen of Florida, one brother, Chris Loughlin of Salt Lake, Utah, mother-in-law, Pauline Yoder of Rockford, an aunt, Theresa McEnly, her nieces and nephews and their children, all so dearly loved. Her parents preceded her in death.
A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at the Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum Chapel in Freeport, Illinois at 2:00 p.m., followed by a visitation. Rev. Don Jamerson will preside over the memorial. She will be laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery.
