Leonard DeGan Obituary

LEONARD G. DEGAN, 62 SHERMAN - Leonard G. DeGan, 62, of Sherman, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 26, 1951, in Freeport to Robert E. and Mary Ann Gravenstein DeGan. He married Romelia Garrido on June 28, 1979. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Romelia; three daughters, Elsa (Michael) Elder of Denver, Gabriela (Matthew) Gallina of Springfield and Monica (Glen) McCrory of Des Plaines; nine grandchildren; one brother, David L. DeGan of Davenport, IA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Leonard had been a resident of Springfield for the past 15 years. He served in the United States Army. He was an over the road truck driver. He loved golf, was a huge listener of the WCIC radio station, and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Double HH. Gathering from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home. Graveside Service at 11 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Pastor Eddie Hammond officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail and the US Army. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective League. We are sad to hear about Lenny.
Our thoughts and prayers are with u all. We used to live down the street from u in Brookside Glen at 505. We would always see Lenny walking his dog. He was always friendly.

I'm so sorry to hear of the death of Lenny. We grew up in the same neighborhood as kids. I lived on Pleasant St and Dave and Lenny lived on Blackhawk. Much too young. I am truly sorry for your loss. My sympathy to David and to Lenny's wife and family, as well. I'm sure he will be missed.

Romi...Lenny was a great friend to Denny. they had lots of golfing laughs. He was a great friend to me also. We loved his father amd miss him and Lenny will be missed as well.
