Patrick Davis Obituary

Patrick & Carlotta Davis 1950—2017
Patrick 'Pat' (Fro-dog) and Carlotta 'Lotti' entered their final resting place together in Freeport, IL on February 13th, 2017. Carlotta A. Davis, 59, was born July 6, 1957 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Carlisle and Anne (Gremba) Ganz. Carlotta was a graduate of Freeport High School and continued her education through work. She worked for Economy Fire & Casualty, St. Paul and MetLife for 40 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was extremely active as a Sunday School teacher, Ladies Guild, and served as a Lector. Carlotta volunteered for many civic organizations, including United Way. Carlotta will always be remembered for her witty humor. Stand up comedy wouldn't be a stretch for her. Patrick J. Davis, 66, was born May 7, 1950 in Savanna, IL, the son of Laurence and Jean (Cottral) Davis. He was a graduate of Savanna High school, and graduated with his Associate of Science from Highland Community College in 1981. Pat was a United States Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam era, and received National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign medals. Pat was a member of the Freeport Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan that enjoyed participating in his beloved game of golf, was a lifetime Cubs enthusiast, and supported the community through attending and cheering on local sports. The devoted and loving couple met while attending Highland Community College where Pat challenged Carlotta to a game of ping pong in the student center where she went on to win his heart. Pat and Carlotta were married on September 29, 1978 in Mt. Carroll, IL. Thus began their journey together towards nurturing their love and growing their family. Pat and Carlotta set an example as parents who unconditionally and selflessly loved all of their children, and were great role models for everyone. Both Pat and Carlotta were mental health activists, educators, and were active members of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (N.A.M.I). Surviving are their 3 children, McKenzie Jackson (Alan Lego) of Lanark, IL., Katrina Davis (Fiancé Tim Darnell) of San Diego, CA., and Mitchell Davis of Freeport, IL; grandchildren, Clayton Lego of Dubuque, IA., Fischer Jackson, Belle Lego, and Caleb Lego all of Lanark, IL.; Carlotta's siblings, Jean Wilson (Charlie Blenderman) of Oklahoma City, OK., Dawn (Mike) Clark of Freeport, IL., Carlisle J. Ganz of Rockford, IL., Dennis (Barb Anderson) Ganz of Lake Carroll, IL., James P. (Jannell) Ganz of German Vallery, IL., Paul Ganz of Ridott, IL., and Charlie (Judy) Ganz of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Pat's sisters, Diana Davis of Phoenix, AZ., Lauri Wallette of Stockton, IL., Paula (Glen ) Ivey of Fort Bragg, CA., Barbie (John) Francke of Hanover, IL., and Margo (Dennis) Hull of Savanna, IL; Carlotta was preceded in death by her parents Carlisle and Anne (Gremba) Ganz. Pat was preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Jean (Cottral) Davis, twin brothers at infancy, and his brother Mike Davis.
Visitation will be Friday February 24, 2017 at 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be held Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following the service there will be a luncheon at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Please sign Pat and Carlotta's guestbook at www.burketubbs.com. I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to Davis' family and friends. It's times like these when the loving promises of our Heavenly Father such as knowing that we can see our loved ones again can bring us comfort and soften some of the pain we feel in our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13,14

Years ago, I lived down the road from the Davis family in Lincoln, IL. I loved riding my bike down the street to play with the girls and Pat and Carlotta were always so welcoming to us. Keeping your family in my continued prayers for peace.
