Richard Korte

RICHARD 'DICK' L. KORTE, 65 LENA - Richard "Dick" L. Korte, age 65, of Lena, passed away on November 7, 2013, at his home after a long fight with progressive supranuclear palsy. He was born on November 8, 1947, in Freeport, IL, to Raymond and Rose (Mougin) Korte. He graduated in 1965 from Warren High School. Richard served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. On June 29, 1974, he married Linda Brinkmeier at Lake Le Aqua Na State Park. Richard was employed by Kelly Springfield and in 1974 he became owner and operator of Lena Sales. He was a member of the Lena United Methodist Church, where he served on the trustee board and also as a youth leader. He was a member of the Warren American Legion Wickler-Copeland Post 464 and the local bowling league. Richard loved spending time with family and friends. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved giving wheel chair rides to his grandchildren when he was able. Every fall he looked forward to a weekend in Door County and their spring trips to Florida. Survivors include his wife, Linda of Lena; a son, Eric (Erin) Korte of Lena; a daughter, Tiffanie Korte and Ryan Simmons of Monroe, WI; grandchildren, Austin Simmons; and foster children; brothers, Harold Korte of Apple Canyon Lake, IL, William (Colleen) Korte of Stockton, IL, Robert (Sharon) Korte of Rockford, IL, Donald (Dianne) Korte of Warren, and Roland Korte of Warren; sisters, Lenora Jackson of Santa Ana, CA, Rita (Darrell) Orr of Hartland, WI, Shelby Jean (James) Young of Atopka, FL, and Cheryl (Richard) Holland of Grapevine, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Donna Hintz and Deloris Ertmer; brother-in-laws, Eldon Ertmer, Jack Moore; and a sister-in-law, Carol Korte. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 11, at the Lena United Methodist Church in Lena. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, November 10, at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. The Rev. Brian LeBaron will officiate. Burial will take place at Lena Burial Park. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Lena United Methodist Church. A memorial has been established in his name.
