Allen Behne Obituary

Allen Behne

September 7, 1948 - February 17, 2025

Allen Andrew Behne, 76, of Lincoln, was born September 7, 1948, in Brainard, Neb. to Leo and Alice (Helman) Behne.

Al grew up on a farm in Brainard where he often reminisced on his fond memories with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing baseball, football and basketball in his younger years and continued to follow these sports throughout his life. He loved to watch the Huskers whenever they played.

Additionally, he never found a horse track he didn't enjoy frequenting. He was an avid golfer with three notable hole-in-ones to his name. He was a fun and loving father and friend to many, appreciated for his easy- going attitude.

Grandpa Owl was a doting Grandfather to his eight grandchildren and took pride in his four daughter's lives and enjoyed family travels. He always had a video or several pictures to show of his family.

Al graduated from the University of Nebraska - Kearney earning his Bachelor of Arts in Education. He then went on to teach middle school and high school social studies for eight years. During his time teaching he developed the intermural parochial sports league in Lincoln. Following teaching, he spent most of his working years at the University of Nebraska in Purchasing. His most memorable project was supporting the redesign of Memorial Stadium. Bored in retirement, he then spent a few years as a beloved custodian at Cavett Elementary School in the Lincoln.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Alice Behne; and his wife, Christie Behne; brother, Leo Behne Jr.; and brother-in-law, Loren Kuzelka. He is survived by his daughters and their families, Kelli and Erik Pearson; Tara and Ben Kamprath; Joslyn and Drew Mandl; Margot Behne Linder and Tony Linder; grandchildren, Sage, Nora and Reid Pearson, Eden and Arlo Kamprath, Lola and Davis Mandl and Leo Linder; siblings, Joyce and Dave Birkel, Eileen Kuzelka, Carol Behne, Larry and Lavonne Behne, Nancy and Gordy Winters, Mike and Paula Behne and Mark Behne.
