July 5, 1940 - August 10, 2025

Anne Walker Forch, 85, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025.

Anne was born on July 5, 1940, in Lincoln Neb. She graduated top of her class from Lincoln High School and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She was a Phi Beta Kappa and Honor Society member and active in her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta.

Anne began her teaching career at Lincon High School and then was one of the original teachers at Lincoln East High School which opened in 1967. She had a long career, teaching English, facilitated the gifted program and later serving as the Media Specialist. She sponsored the Pep Club, National Honor Society, and the Lincoln East Spirit Club. She cared deeply for her students and worked hard to help them be successful.

Anne married Paul Forch in 1988 and had 36 wonderful years together. Both were successful East High teachers and supported each other in their careers.

Paul and Anne loved spending time with their families and friends. They enjoyed traveling, living in Arizona during the winter, golfing, sailing, following Husker sports and spending time with their black poodles, Murphy and Smokey.

Anne was proud of her Danish heritage and participated in many activities with her Danish relatives in Hamilton County, Neb., and her uncle Harl's family in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Anne was very involved in her church, growing up at Christ United Methodist and later attending St. Mark's United Methodist. She was a member of the Junior League of Lincoln and President of the Firethorn Women's Residences Association and the Firethorn Women's Golf League.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents, Bill and Herma Walker; and her brother, Richard. She is survived by her brother, Rod (Vicki) Walker of Omaha; her sister, Dorothy Shonsey of Carmel, Calif.; nephews, Zachary and Jay; nieces, Anne and Cara; stepchildren, Julie (Eric) Phillips of Omaha, Paul (Jan) Forch of Phoenix, and Steve Forch of Lincoln, along with their families including David, Jacob, Lilly, Eva, Zach, Callie, Ryleigh, and four great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on October 18, 2025, at Butherus-Maser and Love Funeral home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, Neb., at 11 a.m. A graveside family service will be held prior to the celebration at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Earlier today

Sweet Annie always kept us together even though we were teaching at different schools. Luncheons, parties at her home, all were arranged by her. She was always there for us. I loved her so.

I started East as a sophomore & got to know Anne when the Pep Club began. We also ran into her & Paul often @ The Elms in excelsior Springs. Glad they are together forever. Thank you for being a part of so many lives beyond our Spartan family.
