Connie Brandt Obituary

Connie Lynn (Lawson) Brandt

May 20, 1949 - August 22, 2024

Connie Lynn (Lawson) Brandt, 75, of Lincoln, NE, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024. She was born in Lincoln on May 20, 1949, to H.D. "Corky" Lawson and Vivian Garnet (Johnson) Lawson.

She is survived by the luckiest daughters in the world: Krista (Mike) Miller and Cassie (Tim) Adams, both of Lincoln; granddaughters: Makenna Adams of Peoria, AZ, and Tessa Adams of Waverly, NE; youngest sister, Cherie (Craig) Lawson Vendouris of Glendale, CA; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces; grand-dogs: Daisy, Gus, Jagger, and Ozzy; grand-cats: Tito, Bruno, and Stevie; and her beautiful and loyal feline companion, Engie.

Connie was a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Because of her father's calling in Adventist education, Connie lived in Portland, TN, Grand Ledge, MI, and New Braintree, MA, where she graduated high school from Pioneer Valley Academy. She attended Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA, and received her bachelor's degree from Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA. Connie then moved to Atlanta, GA, to practice speech therapy. There she met and married Gary Brandt. They later moved to St. Louis, MO, and then to Falls City, NE, where Connie lived for 24 years before moving to Lincoln to be closer to her daughters.

Connie was a frequent volunteer in the Falls City community, perhaps most notably at the Falls City Community Medical Center, where she served as board president and created and managed the annual health fair. She was tremendously involved in her daughters' education and activities and was their biggest cheerleader.

Connie was warm, gracious, and welcoming, especially to the many friends and family who visited. She patiently waited for many years to live in a house with space for her beloved swimming pool, not only because of how much joy it provided her, but because it gave her even more reason to host family and friends. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by those she loved.

Connie was preceded in death by her younger sisters: Carole (Joseph) Lawson Leonard and Cathie (Bill) Lawson Gullet; parents, Corky and Garnet Lawson; brother-in-law, William "Bill" Gullett III; sister-in-law, Karen Brandt; and many family pets, including: Heidi, BJ, CK, Sam, Doodlebug, and Smooch.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Connie to College View Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4801 Prescott Ave, Lincoln, NE, 68506; Capital Humane Society, 2320 Park Blvd, Lincoln, NE, 68502; and Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach, 2121 N 27th St, Lincoln, NE, 68503.

Connie requested that no services be held.
