Daniel James Gilmore, age 73, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2025.

Daniel was born in Beatrice, Neb., to James and Mary Gilmore (Milke). He was the eldest of three children and grew up in Lincoln, Neb., where he graduated from Southeast High School.

Daniel proudly served his country as an ADJ2 (Jet Engine Mechanic) in the U.S. Navy. His service paved the way for his career, ultimately leading him to Square D, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for over 40 years.

Daniel is remembered for being, as his wife would call him, a saint. He was a pure, kind soul who loved God, his family, and classic cars. Soft-spoken and generous, Daniel led by example, teaching his children to work hard, love deeply, and be kind. Those who knew him were truly blessed to have met one of the finest people God ever placed on this earth. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger; five children, Marcie Scharton-Seevers, Melody Scharton, Ashley Gilmore, Jarod Gilmore (Gaelle Doucet), Jordan (Olivia) Gilmore; sister, Jan (Phil) Baker; brother, Patrick (Karen) Gilmore; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild (with another on the way); and many nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, David Seevers.

A military graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Beatrice, Neb. A reception will follow from 5 to 7 p.m., located at Cross The Line Church, 5925 Adams St., Lincoln, Neb. 68507.
