Derek Sailors Obituary
June 2, 1961 - June 1, 2025
Derek D Sailors, age 63, of Clarkdale, Ariz. who had been living in Lincoln, Neb., passed away on June 1, 2025, one day shy of his birthday, at Tabitha's Journey House. He was born to Dennis and Elsie (Peterson) on June 2, 1961, in Lincoln.
A private family Committal of Ashes will be held at Lincoln Memorial. A Celebration of Life/Memorial will be held at St Mark's United Methodist Church 8550 Pioneers Blvd, on Wednesday, June 11 at 11 a.m. Memorials are suggested to CAASR (Central Arizona Animal Search and Rescue), United Cancer Foundation, Lincoln Lutheran Champions Fund and Lincoln Public Schools Foundation, Attn: Lincoln East High Basketball.
Derek is survived by his sister, Shelley (Sailors) Bouwens; brother-in-law, Randy Bouwens; nephews and families, Jesse and Erin Bouwens; great nieces, Teagan, Brooklyn and Hayden Bouwens, Jordan and Lacy Bouwens; great niece, Lennon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and great niece, Remi Grace Bouwens.

I graduated from East in 79. I remember going to basketball games, and watching Derek play. He was a great BB player. My prayers are with Shelly and family.

Sorry for your loss Shelly. I have good memories of watching him and his East high teams play basketball. I even had the pleasure of watching him play a game in college when I lived in Albuquerque. May he rest in peace.
