Dear Bonnie, Charlie was an outstanding scholar and an all-round great colleague. He chose an avenue of study much needed in the field and explored it throughly. Students admired him, professionals looked up to him, and peers trusted his judgement. HIs contributions to the field and to the community were significant. Thank you for sharing him with us over the years. He made us all the better for it.

I was fortunate to meet Charlie because I am married to Christy, his former sister-in-law when she was married to Ron Healey, her late husband. Charlie and I shared some great times together both with and without Bonnie and Christy. We enjoyed several rounds of golf which are great memories and one of my favorite pictures of Charlie is with he and my sons Mark and Justin and Christy's son Doug who took first place in our golf scramble the morning of Christy's and my wedding (4/29/2016). He didn't have his clubs with him and finding a set was more of a challenge since Charlie stood on the "other side" of the ball. But we did, and apparently the clubs worked out OK. Thanks Charlie for helping to make our wedding day even more special by your presence. I will truly miss you.

Dr. Healey was a consummate professional with a big heart. He was always a willing listener and imparted valuable strategies for my students who stuttered. I valued his knowledge and friendship. My deepest sympathy in your loss.

My sincere sympathies and prayers to you and your family, Bonnie. Charlie had a life-changing impact on my life. He inspired and encouraged me to specialize in stuttering therapy. More than that, Charlie was our dear and most respected friend in our Omaha-Lincoln NSA Chapter. Rest in peace, Charlie. Thank you for all you did for me, and for our friends who stutter.
