Evelyn M. Wuehler, age 86, of Kearney, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Brookstone Gardens in Kearney.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Evelyn was born on January 19, 1939 in Gibbon, Neb., to Ernest and Edith (McTavish) Hibberd. She attended school in Gibbon, Miller and Pleasanton. She was united in marriage to Merle Wuehler on August 31, 1958 in Kearney. Merle and Evelyn were blessed with their only child, Karla Kay. The couple lived in the Riverdale and Amherst area, moving to Kearney 20 years ago. Evelyn worked at Belschner's Custom Meats in Amherst for 20 years.
She has been a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of Alter Guild. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, reading, extension club and senior citizens at church.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karla (Daniel) Trampe of Reno, Nev.; granddaughters, Janelle Kurland of Reno, Nev., and Jill Smith (Travis) of Dayton, Nev.; great-granddaughters, Avery Kurland and Sidney Smith; brothers, Larry (Darlene) Hibberd of Argyle, Texas, Robert (Joyce) Hibberd Kearney, Neb.; sisters, Janet (Maynard) Hansen of Grant, Neb., Jean Albright, Joyce (Ken) Bosshamer, Barbara (Larry) Wuehler all of Kearney, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Anita Hibberd of Grand Junction, Colo., Lucile Hibberd of Westminster, Colo., and Viola Hibberd, Joan Wuehler both of Kearney, Neb.; Aunt, Sylvia McTavish Grand Island, Neb.; and numerous extended family members.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Glen Hibberd, Jim Hibberd, Jerry (Donna) Hibberd, Darrell Hibberd, Dennis Hibberd; sisters, Marie (Harlan) Kring, Ruby (Lowell) Fisher; brother-in-law, Virgil Wuehler; nieces, Peggy Wuehler, Kim Hibberd Biggers; nephews, Nicholas Hibberd and Randy Hibberd.
