I am deeply saddened to hear about his passing. His influence reached beyond the canvas, leaving an indelible mark on the tapestry of our memories. In the brushstrokes of his guidance, we discovered not only the technical finesse of art but also the boundless landscapes of our creative souls.
Each stroke, each critique, and every shared moment were threads woven into the rich fabric of our artistic journeys. His passion for nurturing creativity and unlocking the potential within each student was a masterpiece in itself, painting a legacy that will endure in the gallery of our hearts. May the colors of fond memories and the echoes of his artistic wisdom provide solace in this difficult time.
Though he may no longer stand before the easel, the brush of his influence will continue to shape the canvases of our lives. My thoughts are with you and all those who had the privilege of being touched by his artistry.

I was lucky enough to have George as a teacher during my time at North Star. He encouraged me to try new things. Years later because of that art department, I went into teaching art myself. Now I am back at North Star and that room holds many fond memories of his class and all the amazing still life items he had decorating the room. He had an impact on many young minds.

I was so sad to just recently hear the news of George's passing. My wife and I were both able to work with George for several years as we opened North Star. Such a kind man with a terrific sense of humor. I know he will be missed greatly by family, but also missed by so many of his former colleagues and friends. He was one of a kind. I will certainly miss him. Thinking of his family at this time.

What a sad day to see this news of Mr. Sedlacek's passing. No words could do justice to how much our crossing paths means to me. I was diagnosed with a severe chronic illness at age 16 and his 6th period photography class saved my life. He didn't have to open up his room ahead of class nor sit with me waxing philosophic but he did. His company became a huge solace to the chaos that was happening to my body. We got into such a familial comfortability that I took to calling him Dad. When he would see me in the halls between classes he would wave his billfold and shout from his class door "do you need any money daughter?!" and we would laugh. I needed those laughs and he knew it. He gave so much more than his job description required and I will forever be grateful to him for teaching me more than photography. Thank you "Dad"

What a loss. George was a hugely influential person in my life. He was without a doubt one of the people that "gave me permission" to become an artist. He knew how to instill confidence of purpose with respect and humor. I graduated from Lincoln High in 1982. In 1987 I graduated from UNL with a Bachelors of Fine Art. My field of study was ceramics. During my 5 college years of practice and reflection I would often times think back to the Lincoln High clay rooms when George said to me "Mr. Johnson...remember - It is a poor potter that blames his tools."
The man had a way of making you think and smile and as my days roll on, I will continue to smile and miss my friend.

To the family of George Sedlacek - Please accept my sincere condolences. I met George early in my professional career at Lincoln High School. As we worked together to support student success in and outside the classroom, I found George to be genuine in expressing his concerns for students. He carried himself in a professional manner. I found George to be personable and compassionate. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Sedlacek was a class act. Our sculpture class at LHS in 1986 was a handful, to say the least. He earned our respect and taught us about photography and art.

Mr. Sedlacek was my high school pottery teacher. One day he encouraged me to become a teacher. In a moment of adolescent angst I told him, "No way! You don´t make enough money and nobody treats you with respect". I have been teaching in LPS for 30 years. Every time we saw each other we chuckled about that day. He will be sorely missed.

We are sorry to hear of George´s passing. I had a nice visit with George a couple of years ago when he had a garage sale of his mother´s belongings here in Clarkson. He was the youngest of us seven cousins. Since he resided in Lincoln most of his years, we didn´t see him too often. Our condolences to his family and may
God be with him .

Mr. Sedlacek was one of my favorite teachers! I had him for art classes at Lincoln High back in the 80´s. He had a great sense of humor - I learned a lot and had fun doing it! I got to see him again when our daughter went to Northstar. I´m so sorry to hear of his passing. I send love and prayers to his family. Rest in peace Mr. Sedlacek.

George was my art teacher in 1975. After graduation, I was going to Europe and in his class, made some hideous ashtrays in the shape of Nebraska to give as gifts to my homestay families. I know, what was I thinking?
In 1980 I returned to LHS as George's colleague. In 1996 I found one of these ashtrays that I had made at my mom's house. I wrapped it up and took it to George. When I walked into his classroom with a gift bag, all those years later, and without missing a beat, he said, "Please, let this be an ashtray in the shape of Nebraska." We had a good laugh over it. George was such a kind soul and my life was richer having known him. I know he will be deeply missed.

Mr. Sedlacek was our art teacher in the class where my husband and I met almost 16 years ago. He always called us "Young Love" in the classroom and hallway. So many memories made in that classroom. Rest easy

George was my art teacher and friend while I was at Lincoln High. After graduating in 1981 I pursued art and became an art teacher as well. He inspired me to teach from my heart and to be genuine in art creating and teaching others to love art as well. He is and will always be in my heart

Mr.Sedlacek was my high school art teacher at LHS, a very long time ago. He was the kindest and most generous of teachers with his time and instruction. He helped me so much with painting. I remember him often, and when anyone likes something I have done, I always credit him for making that happen.
I am so sorry for your lost. His memory will live on through so many of us that were privileged to be taught by him.
