In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

The last time I saw George was unfortunately at Laura's funeral. Even though it had been at least 10 years since we last saw each other and I was heavier and grayer, he remembered me. That was George. He remembered all us "kids". He WILL be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Steer family during this difficult time. God Bless!

One of the rare people in this world who cared about what really matters, family. How many children him and Ms Laura took in, me included, and treated us all just like his very own. He would smile with an inner pride when he spoke of his children, I am so proud to be one of the "family", and the world will miss him dearly.who could replace him?

Even though I wasn't a "blood member" of the family, Grandma and Grandpa Steer and all of my Aunts and Uncles taught me so much. You all were there for us when Mike and I were growing up. I have missed this part of my "family" for so long and my heart is breaking for all of you. Grandpa Steer once said,"I'm your only Grandpa now", after my Grandpa Siffring died. He did his best to uphold that. Both Grandma and Grandpa were very special people. I know they are together now and happy. I am forever grateful for having them and you in my life. I Love you all.

What a great life "Mr. Steer". Always wore a smile, always willing to lend a hand, always had
time to make you laugh. He will be
deeply missed by all who had the chance to know him. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Lots of memories on Harwood Street.

George was a special person to the LHS staff for many years. He would daily come by my room on first floor to share a joke, or maybe to play one. He was often one of the first to help a kid in need. His greatest pride, however, was in sharing tales about his many children and beloved wife. My, how evident it was about how much he loved his family, and how much he loved to laugh. My thoughts will be with you as you go through this life's adjustment.
