December 26, 1932 - January 16, 2022
Irene Fae (Keim) Moore passed away on January 16, 2022. She was born on December 26, 1932 at the family farm in Davenport, Nebraska to Glen and Ivy (Berkey) Keim. She graduated high school at Davenport and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Midland College in Fremont. She married Barry Moore on June 12, 1954.
Irene was a Teacher and Media Specialist in Lincoln for 20 years, working with students at Bethany and Holmes Elementary and Dawes Junior High Schools. She was a long-time active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was also a sports fan – particularly following her grandkids activities, plus Northeast High School and UNL sports. Barry claimed that growing up as kids, Irene was quite an athlete and would usually be chosen to be on a team before many of the boys.
Irene is survived by daughters Kathy (Achim) Griesel, Karen (Jon) Peppmuller; son Bart Moore; grandchildren Jena (Alan Orr) Lynch, Sam Griesel, Mitch Peppmuller, Matt (Jordan) Peppmuller and Caden Peppmuller; great-grandson Carson Peppmuller; cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Barry, sister Lila Lichty, and brothers Dean Keim and Verle Keim.
The celebration of Irene's life will be held on July 2 at 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 2205 Washington St in Lincoln. Memorials may be made to Lincoln Literacy, 745 S 9th Street, Lincoln NE 68508 (or at lincolnliteracy.org) to honor Irene's lifelong commitment to reading and education; or choose an organization that is meaningful to you and your relationship with Irene.
